6.28.1. Installation of Grep

First, fix a small problem with a test script:

sed -i 's/cp/#&/' tests/unibyte-bracket-expr

Prepare Grep for compilation:

./configure --prefix=/usr --bindir=/bin

Compile the package:

make

To test the results, issue:

make check

Install the package:

make install

Installed programs: egrep, fgrep, and grep

egrep	Prints lines matching an extended regular expression
fgrep	Prints lines matching a list of fixed strings
grep	Prints lines matching a basic regular expression
